MasterCPR Equips District With AEDs
2007-09-07
Lincoln County School District in Newport, Oregon has joined forces with MasterCPR to equip each school in the district with an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
With only 13 schools in the district, many people think that the chance of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) within Lincoln County is rare. However, in reality SCA can happen to anyone, anywhere, and of any age. Public access to defibrillators can mean the difference between life and death.
Currently, 10 States require AEDs in schools, with legislation varying depending upon school size and population. For those States that don’t have codified legislation, many still highly encourage AED placement in schools, as on any given day 20% of the Nation’s population is in a school.
MasterCPR recognizes the importance of AEDs in the community, and is committed to partnering with schools across the county to create AED programs. Already MasterCPR has worked with school districts in California, Idaho, Indiana, and Oregon to create comprehensive safety programming that includes AEDs, CPR training, and ongoing legal consultation and records management.
